Product Description

HydroMoth is the latest product from the AudioMoth range and offers everything needed to start recording underwater sound for extended periods of time at depths of 30-60m. HydroMoth hardware is directly compatible with all AudioMoth firmware, meaning you can use the device in any number of underwater applications, from scheduled recording in coral reefs, to triggering recordings by amplitude or frequency in freshwater ponds. HydroMoth has improved LED visibility and more accurate time keeping for long deployments. It also has an in-built magnetic reed switch, which enables recordings to be started and stopped in wet conditions without opening the case. HydroMoth is sold with the AudioMoth Underwater Case as standard, with the option to add a waterproof magnetic key chain fob to make use of the magnetic reed switch.

Hello sandrine.ruitton. Taking into account the campaign's expected closing date and 14 day lead time, we expect the campaign to start shipping out in the first few weeks of August. From there, it usually takes about 1-2 weeks for packages from us to arrive in Europe, depending on selected shipping and customs procedures.

Hello Christian. The HydroMoth uses the same microphone and firmware as the standard AudioMoth, so it should be just fine for terrestrial use. The underwater case that it would come with does, however, lack an acoustic vent, which may affect recording quality, so you may consider acquiring one of the regular cases separately if you would need one.

I'd love to buy this to record Spinner Dolphins that swim behind my house but I can't get past the page asking the address page. Perhaps shipping is not supported to Guam (a tiny island in the Pacific using USPS, UPS, Fedex or DHL shipping methods) :'-(

Silly me. I had selected Guam as a Country which did not work. Guam however appears in the States list for the US (which it should) and I was able to complete my order. Thank you greatly!!

Hello! I just group-bought a HydroMoth but see that only 456 units are available and I am no. 518 in the queue. Supply-chain issues are probably awful, but do you have any general idea of when more HydroMoths will be ready to ship? Also, I have to ask a really stupid question: The HydroMoth and AudioMoth have the same microphone and can use the same firmware. That means the HydroMoth can also be used to monitor bats and the like above water with the AudioMoth's efficacy and fidelity, correct?

There are 454 units "still" available as of today. So the total amount available for this campaign is 975. We don't let people back beyond what is available so your unit would ship within a few weeks of campaign closure along with order #1.

To answer your other question, the HydroMoth should work just fine above water, but the underwater case may not work as well due to it lacking the acoustic vent of the regular cases.

Thanks for explaining the potential sonic limitations of the underwater case. If I ordered the original AudioMoth waterproof case, would that solve the frequency issue when I wanted to record sounds in, say, a forest? Yes, that is the correct case. You can either buy it separately, or you can leave a note on your HydroMoth order to swap the underwater cases with the regular green case.

Given the capabilities of the HydroMoth, I'd love to have both, assuming they're easy to swap (which they seem to be). I would have liked to use the Waterproof Case first to make abovewater recordings.

Received my device yesterday. Very nice looking and really impressed with the Under Water enclosure and water tight seal. Fingers crossed it works. Instructions on getting started are bit hazy, but tracked down some. Installed batteries, and uSD and then https://www.openacousticdevices.info/config-app-guide I installed Installed the AudioMothConfigurationAppSetup1.9.0.exe When I plug in the usb, my windows 11 dings indicating USB detected, green LED comes on, but nothing shows in the App No guide that I can find of says what I should expect to see, but I'm guessing I need to see something in the Device ID and Firmware Version. So back to sleuthing, from windows Power Shell I list the usb devices (thanks to https://tuntoon.com/how-to-see-connected-usb-devices/) > Get-PnpDevice -PresentOnly | Where-Object { $_.InstanceId -match 'USB' } and I see a new device Status Class FriendlyName InstanceId Error USB EasyLog USB Device USB\VID_10C4... Now I do have an older temperature logger called "EasyLog" https://www.lascarelectronics.com/software/easylog-software/easylog-usb So just wondering what I do next.?
