We Smell Bacon

We Smell Bacon

Written By: GroupGets Will | February 19, 2019

The boards named BaconBits and Pinball Clock are taking their first steps towards the SparkFun catalog as our latest GetSparked campaigns. AudioMoth Round 6 just closed after a massive response. We’ve got a new thermal camera accessory and some new UAS solutions to show you. And for any entrepreneurs wanting to take part in the “Renossance” like we did, the Reno InNevator Bootcamp is now taking on a new cohort for 2019 but you have to hurry.

BaconBits

BaconBits

Qwerty Embedded Design, who brought us the LoFive and PocketBone, is back with BaconBits! BaconBits is a PocketBeagle mini-cape used as a teaching supplement for embedded Linux courses. It was created to provide hands-on teaching materials presented at various conferences via e-ale.org. The hardware and material are open source and we plan to host some workshops with Qwerty at the helm once the campaign closes. Don’t learn learn (or teach) embedded Linux on an impossibly sophisticated board. Start with BaconBits!

Elektor PinBall Clock

Elektor PinBall Clock

Coming right off the heels of a +200% funded GetSparked campaign for its Raspberry Pi I/O Buffer board, Elektor is back with the PinBall Clock board. Definitely watch the video and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, somebody make this the user interface for a time machine. Preferably like the one in “Dark” on Netflix, and then throw it up on GroupGets.

AudioMoth Round 6 is Closed

There was an overwhelming response to Round 6 so it had to be closed early to ensure timely delivery based on the supply chain at hand. We hit the bill button on Friday so if your card bounced you should have a notification in your inbox. Please rectify any issues promptly and notify us so we can recharge and make the CircuitHub order ASAP. If this is not done by Thursday your order will be cancelled (sorry!). AudioMoth was also just featured in a Silicon Labs blog post by Lance Looper. Thanks Lance!

New UAS Thermal Solutions

New UAS Thermal Solutions

We’ve got some great new UAS platforms and remote viewing solutions for your FLIR thermal cameras in our store from sUAS LLC. They are a long-time system integration partner and customer of ours so we’re very pleased to now have their innovative wares in the store and ready to ship.

Protect Those Bosons

Protect Those Bosons

You asked so we delivered. We know that you’re doing real-world things with FLIR Bosons like putting them on drones, off-road vehicles, and in other challenging environments. Protect them at all times with our new rugged enclosure. The first batch is black anodized aluminum with a replaceable silicone cover that has multiple color options and a standard 1/4” tripod mount. The Germanium window is made to FLIR’s exact specifications. This is the brick “sh1thouse” of camera enclosures and you can help shape the direction that we take it in. We’re selling a limited number of pilot prototypes via a group buy now with the intent to get more feedback before we ramp production. We’re already getting great input from FLIR and other R&D leaders who've been beta-testing so now it’s your turn.
